Commercial Permits

Commercial permits are required for all structures constructed under the Ohio Building Code [business, mercantile, apartments (4-family +)], assembly, prisons, schools, storage, industrialized and/or HUD units, hospitals, hotels/motels, churches, theaters, bridges, restaurants, grandstands, change of use, demolition, etc.

To apply for a building permit, you need the following:

  • Three (3) sets of drawings, including any changes with an architect's/engineer's seal, showing cross-sections
  • Floor plans
  • Elevations
  • Handicap information
  • Energy calculations
  • Site plan of the proposed structure
  • Septic approval, if applicable
  • Plumbing Permit
  • Zoning Application
  • Plot plan
  • Water/sewer release
  • House number verification
  • Sidwell number
  • Completed application forms

If the project is a public swimming pool, the Warren County Building Department requires 3 sets of drawings, a Zoning permit and a plot plan.
