Biography of Commissioner David G. Young

David Young David G. Young was first elected as County Commissioner in 2004, and was re-elected in 2008, receiving the most votes of any county commissioner in Warren County's history. Since taking office, he has consistently voted to continue his support of limited government and fiscal constraint.

Warren County is widely regarded as being in the best financial position of any county in the state and arguably in the nation. Mr. Young has been a strong voice for conservative causes. He has been quoted in the New York Times and has been a guest on National Public Radio. He is a regular guest on the Bill Cunningham radio show. Dave was also featured as a guest nationally on Fox News discussing his approach to managing the public’s money.

Mr. Young's leadership has been vital in revamping Warren County's Economic Development Department and serves as a board member on the Ohio-Kentucky-Indiana Regional Council of Government which is responsible for regional infrastructure issues. Mr. Young imagined and drew the ‘cocktail napkin loop ramp’ and lead the efforts to build the new ramp at the highly congested Fields Ertel interchange on I-71. The improvement to this area has been dramatic since the loop ramp was opened in 2015. He also serves on the REDI Cincinnati Executive Committee, the leading economic development organization in Southwest Ohio.

Mr. Young was inserted into the effort to keep the one global sports asset held in the State of Ohio, the Western Southern Tennis tournament, in the summer of 2023. This tournament, according to public statements by the new owner, was relocating to a different city. Mr. Young developed a plan and then garnered support for the plan amongst all partners in the project, including Ohio, the City of Mason, and the Greater Cincinnati business committee to attempt to keep the tournament in Warren County. The Cincinnati Enquirer called Mr. Young the ‘quarterback’ of keeping the tournament, and ultimately, the tournament decided to stay at its current location producing a huge, unexpected win for the entire region and state.

Mr. Young's professional background helps him in his service as a County Commissioner. As a licensed investment advisor for over 30 years, he has extensive experience in money management. Mr. Young is also a successful entrepreneur who has founded and sold multiple businesses including employment agencies which have helped find jobs for thousands of workers throughout the Midwest.

Mr. Young is a graduate of Sycamore High School and Ohio Wesleyan University where he majored in both economics and politics and government and played basketball. Dave lives in Deerfield Township with his wife Kristie, and has three adult daughters, Courtney, Kaitlin, and Kinsey.

The Board of County Commissioners Meeting is held on Tuesdays at 9:00 am and the 2nd and 4th Thursday of every month at 5:00 pm. Thursday meetings are on an "as needed" basis and the Board may schedule or cancel as deemed necessary.
